ABOUT ME
I graduated from Virginia Tech as a mechanical engineer. I worked at NASA for 37 years as a mechanical engineer and project manager. During the last 10 years or so of my NASA career, I worked extensively managing projects refurbishing and making improvements to the large cryogenic wind tunnel at NASA's Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia. This tunnel is the only cryogenic wind tunnel in the United States. After retiring from NASA Langley Research Center in 2003, I was a consultant for Whitman-Requardt & Associates in Newport News for two years. There, I built a computer model of the high pressure air system for Newport News Shipbuilding and recommended system improvements. My interests these days include researching and writing biographies of Confederate cavalry commanders.

My published books are:

1. Fighting for General Lee: General Rufus Barringer and The North Carolina Cavalry Brigade. Published by Savas Beatie. Released in February 2016. Double award winner.

2. Custer's Gray Rival: The Life of Major General Thomas L. Rosser. Published in 2018 by Fox Run Publishing.

3. Unhonored Service: The Life of Colonel Thomas Taylor Munford. Published in 2018 by Fox Run Publishing.

In addition, I have completed and submitted to my publisher a biography of Brigadier General Williams Carter Wickham. It is entitled Robert E. Lee's Reluctant Warrior: The Life of Cavalry Commander and Railroad Businessman, Brigadier General Williams Carter Wickham.
I should mention, since I'm getting questions about this, that I am General Barringer's 1st half cousin, five times removed. He represented my great-great grandfather, John Barringer, in a divorce case that he lost in court. Appealing to the North Carolina Supreme Court, Rufus got the lower court's ruling reversed, and John was granted a divorce. The case established case law in the situation where the husband is the only witness to testify against his spouse. It's covered in the biography.
